History:
((will be pretty much identical with huck’s fae, as they are twin sisters and have done EVERYTHING together))
Having lost their mother in the second great war, the girls were raised until adulthood by members of the Seelie Court. Their names were not always Uisce and Jade, as children they were known as Aine (joy) and Grania (love) respectively. The twins lived with their father, but the people under the stairs were their nurses, their friends, their playmates. The brownies, the pixies, the demi-fey, these were the people from whom the girls learned the stories, the histories, the religion, the politics as well as the injustices, the problems, the intrigues.
Just after having matured to adult hood, the girls were out on the night of the Autumn Equionox reveling in the moonlight dancing and playing in the forest with a group of their non-sidhe friends when they were surrounded by goblins. Neither girl had manifested a hand of power. They were trapped and defenseless. Jade began to pay to Danu for guidance and help. As she prayed Uisce fought with a branch from the bonfire the girls had built and the others with whatever weapons they had. Jade screamed and when Uisce turned she saw her sister holding out her right hand palm towards the goblins, black flames erupting from it. Unfortunately as is often the case, Jade had little control at first and the flames not only hit the goblins forcing them back, but caught the dried leaves of the forest floor on fire as well.
Once the flames caught upon the dried debris of the forest floor Uisce began to pray for Danu to help her save her sister and their friends. The promise given that she and Jade would always be devout and true to the Goddess and her Consort. As she prayed for the strength and wisdom to save them all, her left palm began to ache. And for the first time the Goddess spoke to the twins saying “Mirrors you be, one of fire the other of water” Uisce raised her left hand and again prayed, “Goddess, help me!” A volley of water exploded from her palm, clearing a path of escape through the flames for the little band. The ruckus brought Sidhe warriors, but there was little need. The goblins had retreated for the most part.
However, at age 200, around 2000 years ago, Jade was approached by Lord Alethinos, who had been among the warriors that came the night the girls were first blessed by the goddess to woo. Alethinos was known for his debauched and sadistic ways. Rather than submit herself to such a courtship that Taranis would find pleasing, Jade decided to leave the Seelie Court and join the Unseelie. Her sister of course went with her, for the two were inseparable.
Upon being accepted into the Unseelie Court, Jade’s Hand of Black Flame was seen by a member of the Queen’s Ravens and he offered to mentor her in the ways of a Sidhe Warrior. Jade countered his offer with a request that he train both of them. For the next five hundred years Uisce and Jade trained with the Queen’s Ravens. It was during this time that the girls names became Jade and Uisce, for the Ravens felt that Love and Joy were far to soft to be the names of true Sidhe warriors.
While their sword skills did not grow to the legendary heights of their mentors, both twins were skilled enough with their swords to hold off any other three Sidhe Warriors by themselves. (In other words, together they could hold off six)
During the first century A.D. Rome invaded Britain. Some of the Sidhe were known as Gods to the Celts, the Picts, and the Britons. While the twins were not among the deities, they did move among the humans. One human woman in particular became known to them, and them to her. Her name was Boudica. When she led the rebellion against the Roman governor in 61 A.D., the twins were seen fighting at her side, in place of her two daughters who had been raped and tortured by the Romans. Unfortunately, even their great skill could not turn the tide of the battle in Boudica’s favor.
Danu, having seen their brave attempt to help the humans who still worshiped her, sent the twins a vision in their dreams that they should visit a brownie weapon smith named Dearcheae. The brownie had forged two weapons and the names are Báis Dóigh (Death Burn), and Fuil go Sruth (Blood to Flow). The weapon smith was a wise man who had been guided by the Goddess to create the weapons, this showed in the way he enchanted the swords. He gave to Uisce the sword enchanted to burn, like acid, wherever it slashed. And to her sister, the sword that thinned the blood and caused it to flow like water. He had one further wise act. The blades were enchanted so that neither could be used against the wielder of the other. Thus the girls could train together and never kill one another.
During their time training with their mentors, the girls’ magic began to grow. Jade found that the more time she spent among the herbs and plants of the medicinal gardens, the stronger her ability to heal (personal magic) became, and she began to develop a more keen ability to find the weak, sick, or injured on the battlefield.
Alethinos was banished from the Seelie Court for attempting to seduce a married lady of the Court. Upon his arrival in the Unseelie Court, he immediately began to try and force himself upon Jade. To which Uisce took great offense and challenged him to a personal dual. He chose magic, having seen Uisce’s skill with her sword during the last skirmish between the Courts. Uisce accepted his choice of weapons.
Uisce and Jade were not just muscle having been taught by some of the most cunning warriors of the Sidhe, they had kept tabs on their old nemesis. Therefore, when the dual began, Uisce kept her distance, knowing that Alethinos’ only Hand of Power was the Hand of Claws, meaning he would have to touch her to do her harm. He charged once, twice, three times, the graceful Sidhe leaping and bounding away from him each time. On his third pass, Uisce spun thrusting her righ hand forward. A blade of pure magic thrusting deep into his spine, paralyzing him temporarily.
When she approached the fallen Sidhe to accept his surrender, he produced a hidden blade from within his clothes and threw it, striking her in the thigh. Infuriated at his deceit, she struck again, and again with those blades of magic until a mentor stepped in and ordered her to end it. At which point she pulled the magical sword Báis Dóigh, and ended Alethinos’ existence.
When the War of the Dogs broke out the girls had been part of the Unseelie court for nearly a thousand years. They strode onto the field of battle alongside the Ravens and Cranes. The girls fought side by side never separated by more than a few yards, until the Sargent at Arms ordered them in opposite directions in order to encircle a group of twenty seelie warriors, among them Themlin the Depraved. As the fighting wore on their father lived up to his name, Calling out to his daughter "Grania" in the voice from their childhood. Jade spun in that moment to see her father thrust a spear into Uisce from behind.
Jade, screamed in rage, but prayed in the same breath not for revenge, but for the ability to save her sister. Having seen the torment of Themlin's act on the face of Jade other of the Unseelie engaged in the battle fought off Themlin and the remaining Seelie clearing a path for Jade to run to her sister. Praying as she worked her personal magics Jade fought with all the strength and passion she had to save her sister, but she was loosing the battle. Uisce whispered "Pray to them both". Jade immediately began praying to both Danu and the Consort, joined by Uisce. And for the second time the words were heard by the girls "Mirrors you be, one holds death the other life" Jade's right hand burned as if the sun had come to her palm. She placed her hand upon the open wound and within moments Uisce's life was rescued from the extinction her father wished for her. [Hand of Healing]
Following the War of the Dogs there was anarchy in Ireland. The girls retreated into the land of Faerie and their faces were forgotten by the humans. Two positions among the Cranes were offered to Jade and Uisce for their valiancy in battle. The girls took the positions as the honor they were meant to be. During the first weirding, both of the girls lost some of their musical abilities because those abilities could be used to enchant humans and were considered among the most dangerous because they took away free will.
The girls noted that other Sidhe had began to loose faith in the Goddess and the Consort. Uisce and Jade however, never lost their faith and were told in their dreams to pray outdoors under the sky when the sun was high, every day, and they would be rewarded. As the years passed it became clear to both Uisce and Jade why they must pray outside the Sithen, when the sun was high. How better to keep others who heard whispers in the dark from knowing their faith was true.
As other artifacts and weapons of power began to disappear, the girls prayed daily to Danu, keeping an alter in their room and held to the old ways, keeping their connection to Danu alive. For centuries, the girls were ridiculed by most other Sidhe, who said the Goddess did not hear them. Danu blessed them by not taking back the gifts of the swords that had been made specifically for their hands. When the collecting of weapons of power began, the girls were ordered to hand over their swords for “safe keeping”, the moment another touched the hilt of Fuil go Sruth, the sword disappeared and reappeared in it’s scabbard hanging from Jade’s belt. This was taken as a sign that none other than the Goddess could take the swords from the girls. And both were allowed to keep them.
The girls served as Cranes from that time until death of their Prince in the 1980's. When the Cranes were commanded become the personal guard of a known sadist, Uisce and Jade both took exile rather than serve the corrupt and deviant sadist. Having been raised by the people under the stairs, and having lived for nearly 20 years among the humans, the girls were much more prepared to live in the world of humans than most of their counterparts. The prayed as they ran for the Goddess to Shield them from the powers of the courts, to keep them safe and once more renewed their vow to remain devout to the old way...
The girls moved to Billings, Montana and after three years of working as musicians in a local establishment, were able to purchase a piece of land and start a small nursery. During the entire time, they prayed daily under the high noon sun, in the big sky country of Montana to Danu for help in their lives, remembering to thank her for leading them to a place that provided good soil and growing conditions, and shielding them from the courts. The nursery served them well as both a source of income and a place for them to rejoice and remember their devotion to the Goddess and the Consort.
When the wild magics were released in California, the girls were again visited in their dreams by Danu. The Goddess told them she was pleased that they had not forgotten her and they would be rewarded for their devotion.
Over the next few months, Danu instructed the girls to make arrangements to move. They were needed among a faerie enclave in D.C. Why were they getting near faerie again? Because when Danu says jump, they ask how high and where do we land. She said D.C.
